What Is Cardiology?

Cardiology is the study and treatment of disorders of the heart and blood vessels. While heart disease continues to be one of America’s leading causes of death, an estimated 80% of premature heart attacks and strokes are preventable with help from cardiologists. Cardiology specializes in managing heart disease risk factors, diagnosing heart and circulatory system problems, and performing procedures that help mitigate the risk of heart disease.

Services

At Coryell Health, cardiologists work with our diagnostic imaging and respiratory care departments to provide:

Calcium Heart CT Scan

A CAC (coronary artery calcium) test is a CT scan that takes detailed images of your heart and shows the amount of calcium deposits in your coronary arteries. Higher amounts of calcium are associated with a potentially higher risk of heart disease. Ask your doctor if checking your calcium score would benefit your health.
