Physical therapy (PT) is for patients with pain and/or movement dysfunction resulting from disability or disease. Through proper evaluation and treatment, physical therapy can minimize pain and disability and maximize functional potential. Physical therapy adds to a patient’s strength, mobility and fitness. Some physical therapy goals include but are not limited to decrease pain in joints, improve mobility, strength, endurance, balance, and range of motion. Goals also include education of patients and family members.

• Back and neck injuries
• Joint replacements

• Cardiopulmonary dysfunction
• Post surgical conditions

Occupational Therapy (OT) helps people with disabilities to return to their lives through the use of therapeutic methods, applied and assistive technology, and environmental modifications. Occupational therapy shortens recovery time, improves function and helps people become self sufficient. Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention reduces the risk of a fall in elderly patients. Occupational therapy retrains patients in the activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming and feeding.

The diagnoses that may be seen by occupational therapists include but are not limited to, the following:
• Injuries ( brain, spinal cord, back)
• Neurological disorders (multiple sclerosis, Gullian – Barre)
• Sensory disorders (chronic pain, sensory loss)
• Musculoskeletal disorders (arthritis)
• Skin disorders (burns)

Speech Language Pathology (SLP) or Speech Therapy offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment for individuals who have developed speech, swallowing or cognitive problems following injury or illness. Some benefits of speech therapy are to facilitate functional communication skills, safe oral feeding/swallowing, alternative communication methods, and educate patients and families on compensatory strategies and home programs.
Who can benefit from SLP?
The diagnoses that may be seen by speech therapists is include, but are not limited to the following:

• Memory loss
• Alzheimer’s disease
• Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders
