Job Description:

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Enforces the rules and regulations related to the provision of health care and safety of patients and to the protection of their personal and property rights. Plans, organizes, and directs those responsibilities delegated by the Facility Administrator.
Position Responsibilities
Employment Management:
  1. Participate in staff and patient scheduling. Report to Facility Administrator on staff performance.
  2. Under the direction of the Facility Administrator, conducts staff evaluations, and/or counseling of facility staff per policies and procedures.
  3. Collaborates with the Facility Administrator to ensure that the facility employs the number of qualified personnel needed, that all employees have appropriate orientation to the facility and are advised on work responsibilities upon employment; and that they have an opportunity for continuing education and related staff development activities.
Patient Care:
  1. Oversees and/or performs patient assessment and vital signs. Notes the presence of signs of trauma, observes patients’ general physical and mental condition. Reviews dialysis orders and documents all observations in a legible manner.
  2. Assess patient and family learning readiness; provides appropriate information on renal disease, the prescribed dialysis treatment and medical regimen and their impact on the patient’s state of health and well-being.
  3. Provides hemodialysis therapy; formulates a dialysis plan, per physician’s orders, and the weight and rate to be ultra filtrated; monitors patient vital signs, administers medications and other appropriates treatments, discontinue dialysis according to established procedure, documents all activity appropriately.
  4. Review the analysis of patient assessments, laboratory data, and dialysis treatments. Report the results to the physician if necessary.
  5. Participates with the patient care team in the development and review of both the short term and long-term care plan programs.

Job Qualifications:

  1. Nursing Degree (RN)
  2. A minimum of 1 to 3 years in a healthcare dialysis position and 1-2 years experience in nursing care of an ESRD patient.
  3. Current RN license for state of practice.
  4. Current CPR certification.
