Dr. Jeff Bates is an established physician with over 20 years experience as a hospitalist and emergency physician. Dr. Bates joined Coryell Health in July of 2010 as a hospitalist and urgent care/walk in clinic doctor. In August of 2011 he took on the role of Medical Director of Coryell EMS and Coryell Health Emergency Department. With the rapid growth of the institution, the Coryell Health, Board of Directors appointed Dr. Bates to the position of Vice President for Medical Affairs/Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Coryell Health in 2013.

As the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Bates, takes great pride in the care provided at Coryell Health. He spear headed the effort that led to the expansion and renovation project that greatly expanded the scope of care and services provided in the Central Texas communities that Coryell Health serves.

Before practicing medicine, Dr. Bates worked as an EMT and drove an ambulance in 3 rural North Florida counties. He went to paramedic school and worked as a 911 operator and fire rescue dispatcher in Gainesville, Florida.
