About Mitchell Eichhorn, MD

Mitchell Eichhorn, MD, is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon with specialized expertise in hand surgery, microsurgery, and complex reconstructive care. A native Texan, Dr. Eichhorn brings more than six years of advanced surgical training and nearly a decade of practice experience to Coryell Health, serving patients in Waco, Gatesville, and the surrounding Central Texas region.

Dr. Eichhorn grew up in Texas and was the first in his family to attend college. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Texas Tech University, graduating summa cum laude, then went on to complete his medical degree at Texas Tech University School of Medicine — where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society — graduating with honors.

Following medical school, Dr. Eichhorn completed a rigorous six-year integrated plastic surgery residency at Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners, affiliated with Michigan State University. He then completed a fellowship in hand, upper extremity, and microsurgery at the Banner University Hand Institute at the University of Arizona — one of the country’s premier programs in the specialty.

Since establishing his practice in Waco in 2018, Dr. Eichhorn has focused on delivering specialized care in complex hand surgery, reconstructive surgery, and microsurgery, including reconstruction for traumatic injuries. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons (ABPS) and holds additional board certification from the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) — a dual distinction that reflects the depth of his training in both fields.
Outside of the operating room, Dr. Eichhorn enjoys fly fishing, raising chickens, and spending time with his wife and their daughters.
