About James Phillip Myatt, MD, FACC
Dr. Phillip Myatt, a native to Waco and the founding member of Waco Heart and Vascular, is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has cared for patients in Central Texas since completing his training at Scott and White Hospital in Temple in 2009. He has a particular interest in preventive cardiology and cardiovascular imaging, including the use of ultrasound to diagnose heart muscle and heart valve conditions. He is also proficient in cardiac stress testing, the placement of heart stents, heart rhythm management, pacemaker placement, defibrillator placement, structural heart disease – TAVR, PFO closure.
Dr. Phillip Myatt, graduated as the 1998 class salutatorian from Waco High School. In 2002 he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Baylor University. He received his Doctor of Medicine in 2006 from Texas Tech School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas HSC at San Antonio in 2009. He went on to UTMB Galveston and The Methodist Hospital Houston where he received his training in cardiology. He finished his specialty training at Scott and White in interventional cardiology and peripheripheral vascular disease.
Dr. Myatt has cared for patients in Waco since 2009 with the McLennan County Hospitalist Services and through the Veterans Administration. He enjoys college athletics, the outdoors, golf, and he loves every second spent with his wonderful wife, Laura, their children Colton, Copeland and daughter Charlotte. He and his family are members of First Baptist Church of Waco. Dr. Myatt has chosen to return to Central Texas to give back to the community he loves.
