About John Bawduniak, MD

John Bawduniak, MD, general and vascular surgeon, has been treating patients at Coryell Memorial since 2014 and joined full time in January 2017.  He has been in practice in Waco since 2007, and is board certified in general surgery with significant training in vascular and endovascular surgery.  He has special interest in complex minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery as well as oncologic surgery and vascular surgery.

Dr. Bawduniak was born and raised in Spring, Texas.  He attended Rice University on swimming scholarship, where he graduated with honors (cum laude).  He went to University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, and completed general surgery residency at UTMB Galveston. His high volume practice includes head and neck surgery, skin cancer, breast surgery, oncologic surgery, vascular surgery, endovascular surgery, vein surgery, complex laparoscopic surgery, acid reflux surgery, complex hernia repair, pediatric surgery, pancreatic and liver surgery, as well as robotic surgery.

Dr. Bawduniak leads the Coryell Vein and Vascular Team, seeing patients for venous procedures and venous insufficiency treatment, including spider and varicose veins. Common nonsurgical options include sclerotherapy and endovenous laser ablation, using CoolTouch laser technology. Dr. Bawduniak is specially trained in the use of Robotic-Assisted da Vinci®, a minimally invasive general surgery that allows him to use the da Vinci Surgical System to perform a wide range of delicate and complex operations through a few small incisions. The da Vinci system enables Dr. Bawduniak to operate with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity, and control.

Dr. Bawduniak and his wife Lindsay have three girls and one boy, and spend their spare time on their farm. He is an avid hunter, enjoys aviation, and wine making.
