What is Cardiac Rehabilitation?
Cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised program that reduces the risk of re-hospitalization, lessens the need for cardiac medications, and increases a person’s ability to perform daily activities. At Coryell Health, we provide education, encouragement, and support to ensure the most complete recovery possible from heart problems. To reach recovery goals, an individual treatment plan is created for each patient, including evaluation and instruction on exercise programs, healthy eating habits, and stress management to help prevent the progression of heart disease.
Our cardiac rehabilitation program offers:
- A group support approach
- A personalized exercise plan
- An assessment of your personal risk factors for heart and blood vessel disease
- Education and support to make healthy lifestyle changes
- Improved communication with your doctor and other healthcare providers about your progress following your cardiac event
- Monitoring and better control of blood pressure, lipids /cholesterol and diabetes
- Psychological / stress assessment and counseling
Criteria for referral
Cardiac rehabilitation is available to people with health histories including:
- Angina
- Congestive heart failure
- Coronary angioplasty – with or without stents
- Coronary artery disease
- Heart attack
- Heart transplantation

Pulmonary Function & Respiratory Therapy
The Respiratory Care Department assists patients with known or suspected pulmonary disease or dysfunction. Our team helps patients improve the quality of their lives through improved breathing. Our licensed respiratory therapists work in conjunction with physicians, nurses and other clinicians to assess patient needs and develop individual treatment plans. With extensive training in pulmonary medicine and many years of professional experience, our team offers a comprehensive array of diagnostic, therapeutic, and educational services. Notably, our Respiratory Care Department earned the “Quality Respiratory Care” designation from the American Association for Respiratory Care.
Respiratory Therapists
Respiratory therapists are an integral part of a hospital’s health care team, as they administer and assess the effectiveness of prescribed treatments. Each of our therapists is equipped to serve as a consultant to the physician in the treatment and management of respiratory problems. Therapists administer oxygen, rehabilitation techniques, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and maintenance of natural and artificial airways. Often, they administer the Pulmonary Function Test, which is a measurement of ventilatory volumes, pressures, flows, and the analysis of blood and respiratory gases.
Pulmonary Function Lab
Our Pulmonary Function Testing Laboratory offers comprehensive pulmonary function testing in a state-of-the-art laboratory. Tests include, but are not limited to, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), Spirometry, Lung volumes, and Diffusing Capacity for Carbon Monoxide (DLCO).
Inpatient Services
Services for hospital inpatient and emergency room patients are available 24 hours, every day.
Outpatient Services
Outpatient Cardiac, Neurology and Pulmonary procedures require a doctor’s order and appointment.
