Orthopedic Surgery - Joyce Pruitt

A new life after total knee replacement surgery

Joyce Pruitt, a local business owner and grandmother who loves to travel, once suffered from osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint disease in her knee. After speaking with her physicians, family, and friends, she decided a total knew replacement was best for her to get her strength back and continue to live her life to the fullest.

“For years, I battled knee pain problems,” said Pruitt. “I had been putting off having my knee replaced, but I finally couldn’t live with the pain anymore. I had been taking steroids and the rooster comb injections, but they just weren’t giving me relief anymore.”

In April 2017, Pruitt had her right knee replaced. After surgery, she faithfully attended physical therapy three times a week; she also did her exercises and stretching at home.

The replacement surgery, complimented by guidance from her physicians and therapists, was a success. Arthritis no longer slows her down.

“Less than one month after my surgery, I was back at work at Pruitt’s Shell and was able to travel to Aruba with friends. While on vacation, we went parasailing, and I had a blast. I would do the surgery again in a heartbeat, as I feel like a new woman,” said Pruitt.
